Calendar invites in Mail

When someone outside Knobs invites you to a meeting — from Google Calendar, Outlook, or any other standard calendar — the invite arrives as email. Mail recognizes it and renders an invite card in the reading pane, so you can respond right there.

The invite card shows the event’s title, time, and organizer, with buttons to act:

  1. Open the message — the invite card appears above the body.
  2. Click Add to calendar to put the event on your default calendar, or answer directly with Yes / Maybe / No.
  3. Answering both imports the event (marked with your response) and emails your RSVP back to the organizer — their calendar updates just like you’d replied from Gmail.

The imported event links back to the mail thread it came from, so you can always find the original context from Calendar.

If the organizer moves or cancels the meeting, the update arrives as another invite card — import it the same way to bring your copy of the event up to date.

Invites aren’t the only mail that turns into calendar entries. Any conversation — “can we meet Thursday afternoon?” — can become an event:

  1. Open the thread and click Add to Calendar in the toolbar.
  2. Knobs reads the thread and pre-fills an event draft — title, proposed time, location if one was mentioned.
  3. Review the draft in the event editor, adjust anything, and save.

The created event carries a link back to the source thread. Nothing is sent to attendees until you save the event with attendees on it — see Invitations & RSVPs for how outgoing invites work.

The other direction: your invites via email

Section titled “The other direction: your invites via email”

When you add external attendees to an event in Knobs Calendar, they get a standard email invite that renders natively in Gmail and Outlook, and their Yes/Maybe/No responses flow back into your event automatically. Details in Invitations & RSVPs.
