Search
One search covers the whole workspace: mail, chat messages, files, docs, sheets, and tasks. It’s reachable from every product, so you never have to remember where something lives — only what it was about.
Open search
Section titled “Open search”- Click the search field — in the top bar on Mail and All Domains, or in the rail launcher (the switch icon in the left rail) from any other product — or
- open the command palette with the keyboard shortcut shown in the search field — it combines search with quick actions like task capture.
Type your query and results appear as you type.
What you get back
Section titled “What you get back”Each result shows a title (subject, filename, doc name, task title, or channel) and a short snippet of matching content, labeled with its product. Results are ranked by relevance, with recency as the tiebreaker.
Use the type chips to narrow the results to one product — just mail, just files, just docs, and so on. Searching from inside a product starts pre-scoped to that product’s content.

You only find what you can see
Section titled “You only find what you can see”Search results respect permissions exactly like the rest of the app. A doc that isn’t shared with you, a private channel you’re not in, or someone else’s mailbox will never appear in your results — including items shared with you via a group you belong to.
Current workspace vs. All Domains
Section titled “Current workspace vs. All Domains”Search is scoped to your current workspace — searching from Mail, Drive, or any other product returns that workspace’s content and nothing else, even if you belong to several. Switching workspaces with the search box open re-runs the search in the workspace you switched to.
From the All Domains view, search spans every workspace you belong to, with each hit badged by its origin workspace; opening one switches you into that workspace. See Workspaces.
