Workspaces
A workspace is a team in Knobs: its members, its mail domains, its channels, docs, files, calendars, and billing all live inside it. Everything you see in the app is scoped to the workspace you’re currently in.
One account can belong to many workspaces. If you run two companies — or work with several clients — each gets its own workspace with its own domain and members, and you move between them without signing out.
Switching workspaces
Section titled “Switching workspaces”The workspace switcher sits at the top-left of the app. It lists every workspace you belong to; picking one swaps the entire app — mail, chat, tasks, files — to that workspace’s data. Your last-used workspace is remembered, so the app reopens where you left off.
All Domains
Section titled “All Domains”Above the individual workspaces, the switcher offers All Domains — a rollup of unread mail, mentions, and tasks across every workspace you belong to. Each item carries a domain badge showing which workspace it came from, and opening an item takes you into that workspace.
Search has the same split: search within the current workspace, or across all of them from the All Domains view.
Every member has one role per workspace:
| Role | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything an admin can do; the workspace’s ultimate authority |
| Admin | Manage members and invites, domains, mailboxes, integrations, billing — plus implicit access to every doc, sheet, and calendar in the workspace |
| Member | Full day-to-day use of every product |
Roles are set when someone is invited and can be changed later under Settings → Members & invites — see Members & invites.
Domains belong to the workspace
Section titled “Domains belong to the workspace”Each workspace owns its mail identity:
- the auto-provisioned
your-team.knobs.iosubdomain, working from minute one, - plus an optional custom domain with guided DNS verification (Custom domains).
When a custom domain verifies, every member automatically gets a mailbox on it, and an admin can make it the workspace’s default domain.
Creating another workspace
Section titled “Creating another workspace”You can create additional workspaces from the workspace switcher. Each new workspace repeats the short setup — pick a subdomain, get a mailbox on it — and starts on the Free plan with its own billing.
