Events & recurrence
Everything on the calendar is an event — a timed block, an all-day banner, or a repeating series. This page covers creating them, the editor’s fields, and how edits to a series work.
Create an event
Section titled “Create an event”- Click Event in the header — or go straight to the grid: in Week or Day view, drag down an empty time range; in Month view, click a day (or drag across several days to start an all-day span).
- Give it a title and check the Starts / Ends date and time.
- Save.
The editor’s fields
Section titled “The editor’s fields”- Calendar — which of your writable calendars the event lives on.
- Visibility — Private (busy to viewers) hides the details from people who can see your calendar through sharing: they get an opaque busy block. You and your attendees always see everything.
- All day — switches the event to date-only. Pick a later end date for a multi-day event; it renders as a banner across the top of the grid.
- Repeats — turns the event into a series (below).
- Attendees — invite people by email; see Invitations & RSVPs.
- Location and Description — free text.
Repeating events
Section titled “Repeating events”Pick a preset under Repeats: Daily, Every weekday (Mon–Fri), Weekly on the start
day, Monthly, or Yearly. For anything else — every other Wednesday, the first Monday of
the month, ten times then stop — choose Custom RRULE… and enter a standard iCalendar rule,
for example RRULE:FREQ=WEEKLY;BYDAY=MO,WE;COUNT=10.
Edit one occurrence — or the whole series
Section titled “Edit one occurrence — or the whole series”Open any occurrence of a repeating event, make your change, and click Save (or Delete). Because it’s a series, Calendar asks how far the change should reach:
- This event — just this occurrence. The rest of the series is untouched.
- This and following — this occurrence and everything after it; earlier occurrences keep the old details.
- All events — the entire series, past and future.
Deleting This event simply removes that occurrence and leaves the series running.
Drag to move and resize
Section titled “Drag to move and resize”In Week and Day views the grid is directly editable:
- Drag an event to a new time or day. A plain click still opens it — dragging starts after a small movement.
- Resize by dragging an event’s bottom edge.
- Press Escape mid-drag to cancel.
Dropping an occurrence of a series asks the same scope question as the editor. Moving one to a different day applies to that occurrence only — change the series’ day via Repeats instead. In Month view, busy days collapse into a +n more link that opens the day view.
Time zones
Section titled “Time zones”Timed events remember the wall-clock time and time zone they were created in — a 9:00 daily standup stays 9:00 through daylight-saving changes. All-day events are date-only and look the same in every time zone.
