Invite your team

Inviting someone to your workspace gives them a full seat: a mailbox on your domain, a knobs address of their own, and access to every product. Invites are sent by workspace owners and admins.

  1. Open Settings → Members & invites.
  2. Choose Invite, and enter the person’s email address or phone number — SMS invites work just like email ones.
  3. Optionally enter their first and last name. If you do, the name is locked in — the invitee can’t change it during sign-up, and their address is derived from it when your workspace uses a fixed address format.
  4. Send. The invite goes out with a one-time link, and it also appears in the pending invites list, where you can copy the link to share it yourself or revoke it.

The invite link lands on an accept page that works whether or not they already have a Knobs account:

  • New to Knobs — the invite is the sign-up. They confirm their name, pick (or are assigned) their address on your workspace’s domain, choose a password, and land directly in your workspace. The email or phone number the invite was sent to is automatically verified as their recovery contact, so there’s no extra verification step.
  • Already on Knobs — they sign in and accept, and your workspace is added to their workspace switcher.

Either way, a mailbox on your workspace’s domain is provisioned for them the moment they join.

  • New members join with the member role; owners and admins can promote them later under Settings → Members & invites. See Members & invites for the full role model.
  • On the Free plan, a workspace holds up to 3 members — invites beyond that are declined until you upgrade. On paid plans, each accepted invite simply adds a billed seat. See Billing.

By default, invitees pick their own address (availability-checked as they type). An admin can instead set a workspace-wide address formatfirst.last, f.last, or first.l — so every new member’s address follows the same pattern automatically. See Mailboxes & aliases.
